No worries! I provide editing and proofreading services to authors, businesses, institutions and tertiary students for a range of written products, from short stories to website content and everything in between. I have experience editing in accordance with Australian, British and American English spelling and grammar rules. Most clients like me to do all editorial changes electronically using the track changes and comments functions in Microsoft Word, but I can also work with Adobe Creative Cloud files.

One of the things I’m really passionate about is digital communications, particularly social media. With social media, you can reach huge numbers of people very quickly. But how do you stand out from the rest? Creativity is a huge part of it and so is well-prepared messaging. This is what I love to do and I learned a lot working on the ‘Visit Australian Parliament House’ social media channels for the Department of Parliamentary Services. During my career, I spent several years in government, both here in Australia and in the UK. Often I was baffled and frustrated by the way government teams write and speak, both to each other and to the public. Now, I make a point of spreading the good word about the merits of plain English.
If you have content that is full of jargon and complex language, I can rewrite it in plain English. Writing in plain English means using a clear style and avoiding complex language. Writing in plain English is not simply ‘dumbing down’ language for the sake of it. It’s about having a meaningful conversation with your audience. It’s about helping your readers and customers to understand, quickly, the important things you are trying to tell them by using everyday language.
